Strong Girl Bong-Soon (2017)

Earlier, we were talking about weirdness, right? ‘Strong Girl Bong-Soon’ is the exact definition of edgy and over the top drama. Some K-drama enthusiasts argue that ‘Strong Girl Bong-Soon’ is so bad that it is good. Imagine having a superpower so strong that ‘you can send people flying in the air with just one push.’ Yes, you heard it right. The protagonist of the show Bong-soon is a 27-year-old woman who is continuously trying to find a stable job and she has a secret that nobody knows about. To her surprise, she finds a young, stylish CEO who is looking for a bodyguard. What? Yeah, yeah. We know its weird. But wait till the drama turns into a murder mystery, love triangle, and personal struggle. OwO it’s just too much to handle.

If you are looking for a good laugh then ‘Strong Girl Bong-Soon’ is the show for you.

Boys over flowers (2009)

There is no way we are leaving Boys over flowers in our best K-drama list of all time. If you looking for something out of the box and something which breaks the gender stereotypes then Boys over flower is the show for you. The story revolves around the boy group F4 of Shinhwa High School. So to give an extract of the show the main protagonist and the leader of F4, Gu Jun-Pyo, falls for this new scholarship student Geum Jan-di. Descendants of the Sun (2016)

This Drama is considered as one of the best Korean dramas of all time. With an IMDB rating of 8.4, Descendants of the Sun is one of the favorites of K-drama enthusiasts from all over the world. The story revolves around South Korean Special Forces Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Surgeon Dr. Kang Mo Yeon. It is the complete package of love, storytelling, and maturity. The chemistry between the characters Yoo Shi Jin and Dr. Kang Mo Yeon is one of the main reasons that this K-drama won 44 awards and was nominated for more than 35 times in the south Korean entertainment industry.

Kill Me, Heal Me (2015)

Now we are getting into a more mature K-drama series. Kill Me, Heal Me is a 20 episode ride that talks about DID ( dissociative identity disorder) and incorporates events involving child abuse and romance. The main character Cha Do Hyun developed DID and the first-year psychiatric resident woman named Oh Ri Jin secretly helps him to regain his composure. Unlike the typical rom-com dramas, Kill Me, Heal me follows a mature storyline and a strong plot which further enhances the character development throughout the show. People who like horror, psychological, and crime based movies will definitely enjoy this psychological rollercoaster.

This Is My Love (2015)

Now, this is something that requires a lot of your time and patience. Because the story progresses very slowly and the main characters Ji Eun-ho and Seo Jung-Eun take forever to write an autobiography about Ji Eun-ho’s life as an actor. The story is written by Baek Mi-Kyung who also wrote the story for the 2017 comedy based drama Strong Girl Bong-Soon. This is My Love is directed by one of the most profound directors in the south Korean film industry Lee Tae-gon and Kim Jae-hong.

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016)

Do you like fantasy? Do you love time traveling and all of the past life stuff? Then hope on the Guardian: The Lonely and Great God wagon because we are getting your hopes up for this ultimate modern-day classic drama. The story revolves around the former king Kim Shin who is cursed to live forever till infinity. We are not giving any spoilers here because this is the drama portal that will guide you to the amazing world of Korean dramas. Crash Landing on You (2019)

A love story is written in the start. Yes, that is the exact story of Crash Landing on You. This lovable story is about Yoon Se-ri played by Son Ye-Jina and Ri Jeong-hyeok played Hyun Bin. So, the plot takes place when Yoon Se-ri was paragliding and she gets hit by a tornado and she falls on the land area of notorious DMZ in North Korea. There, she meets the second main character- Ri Jeong-hyeok. Jeong-hyeok then helps her to find her way back to South Korea. While sneaking her back to her origin country both of them eventually falls in love.

Stairway to Heaven (2003)

Now we are talking about the OG Korean dramas. And to start off here is “Stairway to Heaven.” A Korean drama about how two high school friends upgrade their friendship status to love. A long ride of 20 episodes where the main characters Han Jung-Suh played by Choi Ji-woo and Cha Song-Joo played by Kwon Sang-woo. The story further develops when both of them try to live together while Song-Joo’s father dies in an accident and the mother of Jung-Suh’s dies because of eye cancer. Its a complete emotional rollercoaster and a complete package for all the young lovers out there. Yeah, we know it looks old because it was from the year “2003” but we can say Stairway to Heaven was way ahead of its time and we don’t need to say much about Stairway to Heaven because the awards and nominations alone can talk about its triumph.

Full house (2004)

A unique romcom starring Song Hye-kyo as Han Ji-Eun as the protagonist of the story. So the story takes palace when the show protagonist Han Ji-Eun was tricked by her friends into believing that she has won an international vacation and then, both of these tricksters try to sell her house. Now, we are not going to give any more spoilers but we can say it is a comedic ride weave by the romanticism developed between the new house owner Young-Jae and Ji-Eun. Now that you know the plot. Go watch it ASAP.
