Kdrama is mostly associated with cliche romance but the horror genre is filled with lots of hidden gems and as Halloween is upon us here is a list of must-watch series from hair raising to mid-level chill.

Kingdom

First on our list is the highly-rated Kingdom series with a well-loved cast Ju Ji-Hoon, Bae Doona, and the newest addition Jun Ji-Hyun. Fights for throne already have enough spilled blood now add in zombies. A LOT of zombies.

2 major events have taken over the kingdom; rumors of the ill king and a mysterious plague. The responsibility falls on the crown prince to save his kingdom to solve both these mysteries.

The Guest

If shamanism and exorcism is your favorite type of horror this is should be on your watchlist and If you’ve watched Coffee Prince before you’ll be happy to know our favorite baristas Noh Sun Gi and Jin Ha Rim have reunited here.

Fate brings together a psychic, priest, and detective to solve mysterious incidents and hunt down the evil spirit responsible for the death of their families.

Sweet Home

What’s a better combination than apocalypse and monsters. With a lot of rising actors like Song Kang and Go Min Si along with veteran actors Lee Jin-Wook and Lee Si-Young Sweet Home is adapted from the webtoon of the same name and shows us how desire turns people into monsters.

Tragic incidents make Hyun Soo shift to a rundown apartment where his neighbors slowly start turning into monsters.

The Uncanny Counter

If Demon hunting is to your taste then this is a must-watch. The series has mid-level chills with some feel-good moments.

A group of workers at a noodle shop work undercover as ‘ Counter’ and hunt demons causing havoc in their city.

The Cursed

Written by the director of Train to Busan this series is filled with mystery, gore, spirits, shamans, and a fight between good and evil.

A reporter fighting for the truth and a teenager with a unique power comer together to expose the evil IT company conglomerate and deaths he has caused.

Goedam

An anthology of short stories every episode, this has a bit of everything and is suitable for when you don’t want to invest too much into the plot.

When the night falls the creatures of the urban legends awake and take over the city.

Strangers From Hell

If psychopaths on a rampage are the type of horror you are into this is the series to watch. Starring Lee Dong Wook and Im Siwan the show is creepy, disturbing, and makes you question the human psyche.

A broke aspiring writer rents a room at a hostel in Seoul until he can save enough to move to a better place but gets caught between creepy neighbors, bad living conditions, workplace frustration, and a mysterious serial killer.

Save Me

Is a horror list even complete without a religious cult? Cults make you question humanity and how normal people can under the influence of one deluded person “doing God’s work” be willing to do all kinds of evil-violence, murder, rape, arson, etc.

Starring Ok Taecyeon, Woo Do-hwan, and Seo Ye-Ji this is a must-watch series.

After her father’s business fails Sang Mi and her family move to a small town and get involved with a religious cult. As her parents get influenced by the cult she seeks help from former friends to save her.

The Master’s Sun

Ending the list with a romantic horror comedy starring So Ji Sub Gong Hyo Jin, Seo In-Guk, and L to recover from all the above series.

A woman with the ability to see ghosts finds out she can stop seeing them when she makes physical contact with a money-hungry conglomerate and convinces him to stay together with the promise of helping him find a lost fortune.
