K-pop stands for Korean Pop music and it’s a popular genre of music that gained traction in the last two decades. A lot of listeners have discovered the wonder of listening to this new genre of music. The unforgettable chorus, catchy lyrics, colorful styles, trendy fashion, and unique dance choreography makes this newly found genre a heavy lifter in international music.
In fact, one of K-pop’s most successful bands, BTS has sold 16 million albums (Map of the Soul is the best-selling album in Korean history) and were the best-selling artist to debut in the 2010s.

In August 2020, BTS released the track ‘Dynamite’, their first song entirely in English, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and stayed there for three whole weeks. One factor that separates BTS from most K-Pop groups and the reason they are popular is that they produce their own songs.

SM Entertainment wanted to win over the Chinese market, so EXO became the first Korean-Chinese all-male group. EXO is one of the most energetic boys K-pop band with an international appeal. EXO ranked as the most influential celebrity by Forbes Korea for the year 2014 and 2015, after their first album XOXO (2013), which contained the breakthrough hit “Growl”, was a critical and commercial success.
For this, they won both Disk Daesang at the 28th Golden Disk Awards and Album of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards. It sold over one million copies, making Exo the best-selling Korean artist in twelve years.
EXO was split into two subgroups, one performing mainly in Korea and one mainly in China. Each EXO’s song is performed with unique and powerful choreography so that it is incredibly fascinating and amazing, this is the reason why the 6-year-old Korean group is named in this most popular Kpop group list.

They were the first K-pop girl group to play at Coachella and to reach 1 billion YouTube views — now they’re the most-subscribed-to music group on the platform — as well as being the first girl group from any country to feature on Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list.
In 2019, they broke three Guinness World Records with the single “Kill This Love”, which has had more than 312 million plays on Spotify and over 824 million YouTube views. This is the reason why Blackpink is the best girl Kpop group in the world

For the past four years, the group has represented an unstoppable force of girl power, positivity, and pop magic.

2NE1 debuted in 2009, with a strong image that broke the cutesy clean-cut look typical of girl groups. 2NE1 is another popular girl Kpop group. They became extremely well known for their debut song, “Fire”, which was released on May 6, 2009.
Within the first 24 hours of its release, the two versions of the song’s music videos received over one million views. At the end of 2010, 2NE1 was awarded two grand awards: Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.
2NE1 became successful after selling 0.83 million albums in 2009. They are also formed by YG Entertainment

SHINee is a boy group under S.M. Entertainment with four members: Key, Onew, Taemin, and Minho. Originally a five-piece group, it has been left with only four members after the death of vocalist Jonghyun in December 2017.
The boy band debuted in 2008 with their song “Replay”.Even within their first few months of debuting, the group already received several awards and was internationally recognized.
At the end of the year, Gaon Charts revealed that SHINee was only one of four male groups to make it into the top 100 download and streaming charts for 2015.
